Green Seal is developing a new environmental leadership standard for Stains and Finishes, GS-47. The intent of Green Seal’s standards is to reduce, to the extent technically and economically feasible, the environmental impacts associated with the manufacture, use, and disposal of products. Many stains and finishes have traditionally contained high levels of volatile organic solvents and other toxic chemicals that have been linked to poor indoor air quality and concerning health impacts. As a result, an environmental leadership standard could provide clarity on which products are environmental leaders and assist consumers and purchasers in their purchasing decision.
Green Seal is soliciting suggestions and comments on these proposed revisions from the diverse stakeholders, including producers, users, and general interest groups.
The Proposed Standard is open for comment until August 15th 2008.
