Obtaining LEED Credits through Procurement

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ promotes sustainability using a whole-building approach. LEED measures building performance based on five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.

To obtain LEED Certification, certain benchmarks, or "credits," must be met within each performance area. The Standards sections of the Responsible Purchasing Guides for Cleaners, Computers, Office Electronics, and Paint now contain information on how to identify products that gain LEED credits for a variety of projects.
