Minnesota County Turns Its Trash into Another's Treasure

March 26, 2009

Anoka County, just north of Minneapolis and St. Paul, has opened up an internet surplus goods store to divert unneeded supplies away from the landfill and toward willing buyers.

One man bought two 50-gallon water pressure tanks that otherwise would have been discarded.  He claimed the tanks, new, would have cost him $600.  instead, he paid the county $36 apiece and in so doing kept them out of the landfill.
