TerraChoice Invites Input on Cleaning Standards

May 29, 2008

Source: TerraChoice

Through June 16, RPN members and readers are invited to offer comments and feedback to TerraChoice regarding the prospect of harmonizing their EcoLogo certification criteria for hard surface cleaners with proposed revisions of the Green Seal standard covering similar cleaning products.

The EcoLogo criteria document for “Hard Surface Cleaners” (CCD-146) is scheduled for review and possible revision in 2008. At the same time, Green Seal is nearing the end of its review of the standard for “General-Purpose, Bathroom, Glass, and Carpet Cleaners Used for Industrial and Institutional Purposes” (GS-37). Both TerraChoice and GreenSeal are interested in harmonizing the two standards to facilitate the manufacturing and purchasing of green cleaners.

More about the harmonization process and how to participate, as well as a thorough summary of the similarities and differences between the two standards can be found in this letter from TerraChoice Environmental Science and Criteria Manager, Robin Duchesneau.

Please note that the original June 6th deadline for participation cited in the letter has been extended to June 16th.
