EPA Issues RFP for PPIN Grants Program

The US Environmental Protection Agency has issued a request for proposals for its Pollution Prevention Information Network (PPIN) Grants Program.  The deadline for receipt of hard copy proposal packages is 4 pm EST, March 17, 2008.  In addition, EPA requests submittal of an informal notice of an "Intent to Apply" by March 3, 2008.

The total estimated funding for this competition is approximately $800,000. EPA anticipates awarding between four to eight new awards through a competitive process for amounts up to $300,000 per year.

Interested parties should submit proposals for projects designed to: (1) make specific technical assistance available to businesses seeking information about source reduction opportunities, including funding for experts to provide on-site technical advice to businesses seeking assistance and to assist in the development of source reduction plans; (2) target assistance to businesses for whom lack of information is an impediment to source reduction; (3) provide training in source reduction techniques.

Eligible applicants include the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, any territory or possession of the United States, any agency or instrumentality of a State including State colleges/universities, and Indian Tribes that meet the requirement for treatment in a manner similar to a State in 40 CFR 35.663 and intertribal consortia that meet the requirements in 40 CFR 35.504.
